We would have preferred for our rooms to be closer together however we appreciate that the hotel was able to accommodate our additional request to have the rooms on the first floor in order to accommodate my elderly mom.

Zwembad was niet verwarmd en te koud om in te zwemmen in december, maar dat is begrijpelijk.

"The hotel is located very close to the beach, you can also use the outdoor and indoor pool. The indoor pool is especially nice when the weather is colder. The price also includes a nice wellness. It is great to have the option to buy lunch and dinner. All the food was excellent."

The fact that, despite the heat, rooms were not supplied with drinking water & this had to be ordered from room service at $5 a small bottle. We had just arrived from staying at the Hamilton Princess hotel in Bermuda &, as is normal for luxury hotels of this standard, that had no problem in supplying drinking water to guests free of charge.

"Het verblijf was uitstekend. Enkel het avondmaal vond ik iets minder voor de prijs. Het personeel was echter enorm vriendelijk. Twee medewerkers die ons bijzonder zijn bijgebleven vanwege hun vriendelijkheid en sociale houding zijn Souhaib en Badr."

Het allinclusive gedeelte het eten viel ons tegen.

"Ik verbleef in de dorm maar kreeg wel toegang tot alle faciliteiten van het hotel: sauna, zwembad, ontbijt en ook lag er een badjas en zeepjes klaar. Locatie is top!"

Badkamer van de dorm was zeer verouderd en rook niet fris. Heb bij de sauna gedoucht.

Relatief weinig echt goede restaurants in Panajachel te vinden

Die Hotelleiteung müsste sich mehr Mühe geben mit den Gästen in Kontakt

"The staff was courteous and very helpful, they are very attentive and help us alot, more that i was expecting."

The food was somewhat repetitive and sometimes bland.

"Just generally one of those special places that will stick in my memory forever. A collection of pretty little cabins by the beach surrounded by palm trees with hammocks slung between them for whiling away the days. With only the sounds of birds and waves. Where everyone just hangs out and chats, the staff, the other guests, the extremely interesting and gregarious owner Gregory (no pun intended). I could spend a week here just forgetting about the outside world. The various arrangements (airport transfer, transfer back to town, activities) all went smoothly as well. Which is my no means guaranteed in this part of the world."

Not much but if I went again I'd maybe pay a little more for the room with ensuite shower rather than sharing a communal shower with non locking door. Obviously this is budget accommodation in West Africa so it's of the rustic eco lodge variety rather than the western style hotel room variety in case anyone is expecting that.

"De schitterende locatie met prachtig uitzicht over de zee, het super vriendelijke en behulpzame personeel, maar ook zeker het hotel zelf met alle faciliteiten/activiteiten die inbegrepen zijn!"

In sommige kamers is de hygiëne binnen de badkamer niet heel erg schoon. Kitranden van de douche en toilet zijn vies/zwart. Ook loopt het water tijdens het douchen de badkamer in, waardoor dit een waterballet wordt.

Eén ochtend was er geen ontbijtbuffet omdat er weinig gasten waren. We konden kiezen uit een beperkt ontbijtmenu. Hier stonden echter weinig zaken op die we als ontbijt lusten, vooral warme schotels. Het hotel is degelijk, maar gedateerd. Eerder geschikt voor binnenlands toerisme.

"I had never been to an all inclusive resort before and was sceptical and personally probably will never do it again but nothing to do with the Bareclo, simply my preference but the resort was totally amazing considering the price. I had one of the bungalows which has large vey well decorated and very comfortable likewise the bathroom. Considering the size of the resort the WiFi was excellent . I never used the pool which was huge but instead the beach and swam several times The beach is stunning and spotlessly clean as to the gardens they are stunning and so well kept. The staff were so friendly and helpful especially so the ones in the dining room I have never seen such a volume of food being served ( and consumed !) in such vast qualities and the staff there in my view were so patient considering what they were dealing with! Overall I cannot fault the resort in any major way you get amazing value for money … congratulations to Barcelo"

The checking in process is very unwieldy on arrival I joined a queue of at least 50 people I got there in the early afternoon and they simply would not let anyone in to their room before 3 pm And surely some of rooms were really and why allow check ins as was available . This is not the first time I have come across this attitude The resort is large and at first it was difficult to find your bungalow as it’s not overly well signposted The was an entertainment lady around the pool screaming down a microphone … why is that necessary ? Overall it was a great stay Well done Barcelo
