"Breakfast was excellent. Location is also very good. Transportation to attractions very convenient. Ruin of St. Paul and senado square etc. is walkable distance."

"The room was spacious, clean and had a huge comfortable bed. The room also had amazing views of the sea, and islet de Gosier as well a cool terrace. Coffee facilities and air conditioning in the room. I loved the open air lounge/dining area too - very unique - the art exhibition added glamour! Then the private beach and pool was also a treat."

The beach area tables and lounges needs to be cleaned more regularly.

"I really enjoyed my stay here - the hotel is like an oasis of calm in Bissau. Staff were all wonderful, friendly and helpful - special thanks to Mariama who very kindly went above and beyond her duties to accompany me to the market so I wasn't alone. Good buffet breakfast, clean swimming pool, lovely gardens, spacious rooms. I felt very safe here as a solo female too."

"All in all the service provided by the hotel during my 3 night stay was amazing. All the services requires are available and event it is more convenient with the additional hospitality provided by our host of the meeting PNG Customs."

The only challenge I encounter which requires some improvement is the internet connectivity especially the WFI coverage and connectivity which at times it is very weak while in the room. Otherwise everything else provided by the hotel is exceptionally outstanding.

"Het personeel was zeer vriendelijk, ook leuk dat er 2 Nederlandse meisjes waren aan het onthaal. Het ontbijt was heel gevarieerd en lekker. Het bed was in eerste instantie naar de harde kant voor ons, dit gemeld en ze zijn onmiddellijk met een topper en de nodige lakens gekomen om dit voor ons in orde te maken. Super Ook het de winkel die in het Hotel is kunnen wij als meerwaarde beschouwen. Er is ook een Toestel buiten de winkel waarbij je een buskaart kan aankopen voor verplaatsingen op het eiland. Het busstation is op 500m van het Hotel, er is ook een stop voor het Hotel, alsook de ferry naar Gozo en de kleinere boten naar Comino en de Blue Lagoon zijn bij het busstation."

De terrasstoelen zijn aan vernieuwing toe. Het zou fijn zijn mochten alle deuren voorzien worden van geluidsdemping, de deuren van de nabijgelegen kamers en de gang deuren maken nogal lawaai bij het dichtgaan.

The lack of the cleanliness of the pool (because of breakfast nearby, lots of things fly away in it). Drinkable water in the bar was not free (4-star hotel)

"Zowel zee als zwembad, zee was heel toegankelijk. Kamers netjes, werden goed schoon gehouden."

Er mag meer daadkracht komen bij het management/ personeel. We hadden bij het zwembad veel last van luidruchtige, eigen regels makende, best grove hotel gasten die uit een land vlakbij Cyprus komen. Ondanks meerdere verzoeken van personeel bleef deze groep (10+ personen) doorgaan (gooide het op hun geloof en niet passend eten in het hotel en het niet mogen eten op hun hotelkamer vanwege hun geloof). Ze dronken zo veel eigen alcohol, rookten (wiet geur op diverse momenten) en schreeuwden zo erg dat mijn kinderen van 12 en 16 last ever niet bij het zwembad verbleven als de groep er was. Het heeft 3 dagen van de vakantie toch wel een negatieve smaak gegeven. Daarnaast is de ligging van het hotel ongeveer 30 min lopen van het oude centrum met betaalbare eettentjes. Hotel-Restaurants hadden hoofdzakelijk hetzelfde menu, weinig variatie.

"During our stay, my wife fell ill. Diagnosed with severe malaria, she was transferred from the over-worked Moroni public hospital to a private clinic (at the hotel’s initiative). Over the next week, the Retaj’s staff treated us both as family and could not have been more helpful."

"Breakfast was good and most of the time it has variety. Staff are fantastic.The omelette bar was the best as the other hot food is in bain-marie and is not as good."

Great room and fabulous views of the bay. I loved waking up in the morning and watching the boats going up and down the bay.

"Zeer mooie ligging met prachtig uitzicht. De kamer was schoon en het eten was lekker. Bovendien waren de uitv=baters erg vriendelijk. Vanuit hier hebben we een mooie wandeling langs het kasteel gemaakt."

De kussen waren groot en slap.

"Vooral als je wilt reizen met de bus, bijvoorbeeld naar het noorden, naar de Victoria Falls, dan is dit een ideale plek. Het hotel ligt aan het busstation, waar alle bussen hun halteplaats hebben. De bestemming staat aangegeven bij de halte en als de bus vol is vertrekt deze. Het hotel is prima."

"Hotel ligt op een ideale locatie. Metro + bushalte op twee minuten lopen. Winkels, eetgelegenheden en supermarkten zijn er in overvloed. Al Ghurair Mall is 1 bushalte verderop. Alle medewerkers in het hotel zijn erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Het ontbijt heeft niet heel veel variatie, maar er is voldoende keus en wordt goed aangevuld. De kamer is ruim met prima bedden en voldoende plek voor de koffers."

Het is duidelijk dat het een wat ouder hotel is, maar dat is niet echt een probleem. Een nadeel is wel dat de ramen in de kamer niet open konden. Bij het zwembad zijn slechts een paar ligbedden. Het was gelukkig vaak rustig waardoor dit geen probleem was.

Het hotel is langzaam wat gedateerd, wat meer kapot, kit, moeilijker schoon te houden. Rest is oké, eten enzo. Prima, maar kamer en sanitair is versleten.

"We zijn tevreden over de service, de benadering van het personeel en prijs kwaliteit was in orde. Taxi van luchthaven tot hotel was ook geregeld. Wij hadden vertraging en konden niemand bereiken op dat ogenblik, maar chauffeur was blijven wachten tot we er waren. in vergelijking met onze reis daar 9 jaar geleden was het wel vernieuwd en meer en beter ontbijt."

The need for transportation if you wanted to go anywhere else.

"Uiterst vriendelijk personeel, je wordt helemaal in de watten gelegd. Super lekker eten in alle restaurants. Zelfs de roomservice is erg uitgebreid en goed geregeld."

Jammer dat het iets verder van Lissabon centrum afligt en dat je echt een auto nodig hebt om naar Sintra of Cascais te gaan maar je waant je in een resort waar alle faciliteiten aanwezig zijn voor een zeer aangenaam verblijf

"Lovely spot. Pool and beach fabulous. Our beachfront room was great, comfy beds and room had everything we needed. The staff were very friendly, lots of laughs and great service. Restaurant meals and breakfasts were delicious. Spa massage was simply divine! We loved our stay thank you 🤩"

Not enough equipment to use kitchen. Had to ask for glasses. lower floor quite noisy from the bar downstairs. Also had to ask for a quilt as there was only a sheet on the bed and we were cold.

"Food was ok, the staff was amazing and made you feel extremely welcome, this was the first time staying at this hotel, and I have just re-booked for next year. The hotel was quite, but had it lively time with live music. Enjoyed myself so much. Breakfast was lovely and so was dinner."
