Pensions in Bangladesh

"Alles ziet er prachtig uit, het ontbijt is zeer uitgebreid en ook het 3 gangen diner was heerlijk!! Onze bungalow was stijlvol ingericht en had alles wat we nodig hadden. Het kleine bad naast de bungalow was heerlijk om in af te koelen na een lange dag aan het strand. Solange en haar personeel zijn zeer behulpzaam. We mochten zelfs langer in onze bungalow blijven omdat we een late vlucht hadden en zo nog even konden douchen. Wij raden Les Hibiscus zeker aan!!"

"De locatie is perfect: middenin het oude centrum en alles op loopafstand. Timur en zijn vrouw zijn ontzettend aardig en laten je thuis voelen. Ze bereiden een geweldig uitgebreid en lekker ontbijt voor je elke ochtend en hij haalde ons op van het station. Het was een hele leuke ervaring om zo bij mensen thuis te slapen."

De matrassen op de bedden zijn wat oud en het gordijn sluit niet helemaal goed.

"Vriendelijk ontvangen, mevrouw spreekt goed duits en geeft tips over het stadje. Hele dag door gratis koffie en thee, fijn om plekken te hebben om even te gaan zitten. Je kunt uit een koelkast drinken kopen. Goed ontbijt. Fijne ligging, je loopt zo het centrum binnen."

"Really spacious room with great breakfast. Staff organised all transport and excursions and took to the jetty/ picked up on arrival. Great air con"

Room didn’t look exactly how it does in the pictures, but was still nice. There were a lot of mosquitoes around though and I did get bitten in the night a lot due to no mosquito net, so make sure you wear repellent. Location is on the opposite side of bikini beach and next to the prison, but as the island is so small it’s still only a 15 minute walk away from the restaurants and main beach, however something to consider.

"Since I read the book who the owner Dorota wrote, I really wanted to visit Vanilla House. And it was as I imagined, even better!!! The sound of the ocean at night...The breeze.. The food... The view... I loved it!!!!"

"Amazing and chilled place to stay just a few metres from great restaurants and the main plaza. Naum is the heart and soul of the hostel. He manages everything and takes good care of everything. The dorms are basic, the kitchen well equipped and breakfast included. Would recommend it any time"

"Zooo dichtbij de zee!!! Je slaapt eigenlijk op het strand. We hadden een suite met uitzicht op zee. Daar zijn er vier van: de twee op de hoek hebben naast een groot tweepersoonsbed ook een derde (eenpersoons)bed. Voor ons ideaal, want we reisden met twee volwassenen en een kind. De afstand van je bed tot de zee is 10meter. Geweldig. Prima service. Bij ons was een kleine lekkage: direct deskundig verholpen. Heerlijk ontbijt in het restaurant dat ook op het strand zit."

"It was really good value for money in the area, the breakfast was nice and filling, egg made fresh, avocado, toast, fruit, coffee and tea. The room was really nice we thought it might be cold but the blankets kept us perfect temperature. Only a 4 minute drive from the bus terminal. The man on reception kindly flagged a tuktuk down for us in the morning to the terminal."

"Located in a quiet, idyllic location near the town center, it felt like a little retreat every time we returned home. It’s a spacious house which keeps cool due to the tiling and multiple doors you can open. We didn’t need air con in September. We could close the gates so the dogs couldn’t get in, this allowed the kids to play outside. The three year old was so excited to have swings. After time in the outer islands we really needed to freshen up, so the showers and washing machine were helpful. There was good amounts of drying space, the kitchen was fully functional, and we were given our space to enjoy our holiday."

Tonga is super basic so expectations of any accomodation need to keep this in mind.

Gelegen aan een drukke weg.

"Amazing location right on the beach, quiet surroundings yet not too far away from shops, restaurants and the city center. The house was spacious and clean with A.C., a fan and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge. Mr. Dagobert was very kind and welcoming, he also picked us up from the station. Thank you, it was a really nice stay!"

Keep in mind the accomodation is very basic and I think some renovations could be done, for instance our room didn’t have mosquito nets.

"It is really decent. Not the best, but very sufficient for me. For 50$, I definitely got more than I expected. Free internet and electricity and kitchen and washing machine."

Not too clean (still very acceptable and I would return). Single bed (would loved to have 2 separate beds). Air conditioner is fairly weak.

"We hadden 2 nette, schone, ruime kamers met airco én fan en muskietennet. Ruime badkamer met aparte wc en douche cel met heerlijke warm water en goede straal. Ook een overdekt zitje buiten voor de kamer. Wel veel muggen. Niet gehorig! Vriendelijke eigenaar. Guesthouse zit midden in Hikkaduwa, vlakbij de zee en winkels en restaurants. Een echte aanrader."

"De locatie is top - daarnaast is de communicatie met de eigenaar gemakkelijk en ze doen dagelijks hun best om er voor de zorgen dat je een heel fijn verblijf hebt."

De kamers waren relatief warm. Er was een airco in de kamer, maar helaas geen afstandsbediening beschikbaar.

"Het hotel is echt midden in het centrum, het is dan ook super fijn dat je je bagage in een bagageruimte kan leggen. Wat een top locatie midden in de stad maar wel net buiten de drukte."

"Heel behulpzaam personeel. Auto gratis en direct naast de deur parkeren. Hoewel het hotel een beetje gedateerd is maakt de prijs een de lokatie alles goed. En heel belangrijk: De bedden sliepen gewoon echt goed! Het ontbijt in het ernaast gelegen hotel is ook echt heerlijk! En vanaf het hotel loop je zo het centrum in of de boulevard op. En dichtbij heerlijke eetgelegenheden. Wij gebruikte het verblijf als uitvalsbasis voor troops in Galilea en de Golan. We zouden het zo weer doen."

De airco lekte af en toe wat water

"The staff was very friendly, helpful & efficient Lots of good places to eat, supermarket with imported goods & sundry shops all at walking distance There's a mini refrigerator, ironing board & washing machine for such a good price!"

The only drawback was the heater kept switching off & I had to get the staff to turn it on a few times

"Awesome hosts Vladimir and Alexander....they picked us from the airport...I forgot my universal adapter, they provided their own...home-cooked breakfast by the hosts....awesome...will stay there again, if I am at Almaty again..."

"Great house with all the equipment you might need, including a microwave and full kitchen tools. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the host was wonderful—funny, talkative, and always helpful. The location is excellent, close to everything we wanted to see. You can park your car right in front of the house. Clean, quiet, and comfortable. Highly recommended!"

Ik vond het matras te hard, maar dat is voor iedereen verschillend natuurlijk.

Kamer was wat oud en klein. Vooral toilet en douche was wel echt niet meer van deze tijd.

"Location was perfect and the house was super clean and comfortable for our family of 5. The owners were awesome and even brought us fresh picked fruit. The view from the front room with its oversized sliding door is spectacular. This picture was taken right out the front door."

"Fantastich vrijstaande charmante oude villa met veel houtsnij werk. Zeer goed en huiselijk in gericht met veel chil ruimte en een tuin. Kortom een thuis gevoel. Een schat van een vrouw die je verwelkomt en heel veel voor je regelt. Beter kan niet!"

"Prima lokatie, naast het paleis en de avondmarkt. Maar toch heerlijk rustig. De kamers zijn schoon en erg groot. En het gebouw is een mooi, historisch pand. Het personeel is erg aardig en zeer behulpzaam. We moesten al vroeg weg naar het vliegveld en toch hebben ze in alle vroegte nog een ontbijt voor ons klaargemaakt. Dat ontbijt is overigens prima, met vers sap / smoothie, ei en fruit."

Er hangt een TV maar zoals zo vaak is de ontvangst slecht. Maar ja, wie heeft op vakantie een TV nodig 😉
