Pensions in Barbados

"Het bed was comfortabel om in te slapen en romantisch old fashion, maar wat hoog om in te stappen. Er was een bed lamp aan beide zijden van het bed en elektriciteit naast het bed. De kamer kon opgewarmd worden hoewel de kamer groot en hoog was. Er was een zetel, er waren tafels en stoelen. Er was een keuken met weinig gerief die niet uitnodigde om te koken. Er was een gemeenschappelijk terras met een andere kamer. Op het terras waren zetels. Het was er goed zitten, maar niet echt proper. De kamer was net, maar oud en wat rommelig. De badkamer was klein, maar proper. De omgeving was proper, maar gaf een rommelige indruk. Het dorp is net en mooi. Ook de omgeving. Het ontbijt ‘s morgens werd geserveerd in een heel mooi café met een excellent ontbijt door de zeer vriendelijk eigenaar."

Het enige restaurant in de buurt was werkelijk ronduit slecht en er was geen vegetarische optie.

"Wat een goede plek! Genet zorgde voor een zachte landing in het drukke Addis Abeba. Wat een fijn mens. Wijs, oprecht en authentiek. We genoten van de heerlijke ontbijtjes met haar en de gesprekken die we hadden. Genet zorgde voor vervoer vanaf het vliegveld, een gids, belde ride voor ons, zorgde voor een telefoonkaart en tipte Fendika cultureel centrum (voor ons het hoogtepunt van het bezoek aan de stad). Het enige nadeel is dat het guesthouse vrij ver van het centrum ligt. Zeker in de spits ben je lang onderweg. Genet, Martha en Sofia, thank you very much."

Het had misschien nog iets schoner gekund in de douche en toilet, verder de kamer en bedden wel gewoon lekker schoon

"De host was enorm vriendelijk en gastvrij. We kwamen pas om 4 uur snachts aan bij het verblijf, maar dit was geen enkel probleem en hij ontving ons erg vriendelijk. Het appartement is basic, maar voor een overnachting dichtbij het vliegveld heb je niet meer nodig dan dit."

In het plaatsje zelf is niet veel te beleven maar dat kan de locatie niets aan doen.

"Fantastich vrijstaande charmante oude villa met veel houtsnij werk. Zeer goed en huiselijk in gericht met veel chil ruimte en een tuin. Kortom een thuis gevoel. Een schat van een vrouw die je verwelkomt en heel veel voor je regelt. Beter kan niet!"

"We had a really wonderful time at Hotel Dionisio Inn! It's close to everything you may want to visit in Antigua and the staff was really wonderful, kind, and attentive. Even if the language barrier, they always remembered what we were up to and asked how things were. Whenever we had a question, they were always ready to help out. It's not often that we've met such helpful and nice staff members. The room was clean, comfortable, and so much better than a lot of other places we stayed at on our trip in Guatemala. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely book it again if we ever go back to Antigua."

Everything was perfect, no negative points at all!

"Echt een belevenis. Heel oud huis. Met heel vriendelijke mensen. Je kan echt voelen hoe het vroeger was. En nu nog steeds is. Wel airconditioning 👍👍"

Je neemt best een kleine rugzak mee voor de tijd dat je er logeert. Het is enkel te voet te bereiken. En het is klimmen op de kasseien naar boven.

"Prachtig ingericht, veel aandacht aan besteed, voorzien van alle gemakken en midden in centro storico."

Eigenlijk niets, maar als we dan iets moeten noemen dan de slaapbank (kraakt wel behoorlijk). Het gewone bed is superfijn!

"Locatie en de cultuur avond waar we toevallig aan mee konden doen. Top. Incl. Buffet met locaal eten en dans. Geweldig."

Kamer was wat oud en klein. Vooral toilet en douche was wel echt niet meer van deze tijd.

"Vriendelijk ontvangen, mevrouw spreekt goed duits en geeft tips over het stadje. Hele dag door gratis koffie en thee, fijn om plekken te hebben om even te gaan zitten. Je kunt uit een koelkast drinken kopen. Goed ontbijt. Fijne ligging, je loopt zo het centrum binnen."

Alles was goed

"De locatie was op zich goed, dichtbij een parkeergarage die zeker wel nodig was. Er was een redelijk ontbijt aanwezig. Het uitzicht was op de bergen met daarop nog de nodige sneeuw waar ook nog volop gebruik van werd gemaakt door de skiërs"

Het was in de ochtend druk met de auto's van het woon werk verkeer. Omdat er vooral bergen zijn, zijn er een beperkt aantal doorgaande wegen waar al het verkeer overheen moet met als gevolg filevorming

"Nothing fancy about the breakfast. It was very fresh and clean though. Burger, boiled egg, milk pudding, banana and self-served drinks."

We did not come across anything we disliked although the room wasn’t as spacious as what it seemed on the web.

"Good location by the sea which is not far from the main street of Palau where you can find restaurants and groceries (less than 10 minutes walking). Huge room and comfy beds. The staff is really friendly and he dropped us off at the airport. No complaints"

"This is a family recreational resort with some dorms. Mine was inside the main building near the inside pool and table tennis area. The showers and two toilets are those used by the pool guests. I was fortunate to have only one female dorm mate. There are lockers outside in the hallway and you are given a room key. The manager kindly lent me sheets. I liked the location in the woods not far from the pedestrian street."

The kitchen could use some new utensils. There were no cups or glasses, just some plastic cups.

"Location was perfect and the house was super clean and comfortable for our family of 5. The owners were awesome and even brought us fresh picked fruit. The view from the front room with its oversized sliding door is spectacular. This picture was taken right out the front door."

"Net buiten de drukte van Khao San Road. Achteraf, maar wel dichtbij. in een soort schaduwrijk hofje. Een heerlijke plek bij de restaurant(jes)buurt Samsen om te verblijven downtown Bangkok."

"De lady was zeer gastvrij. Verder was het zwembad heerlijk, en het uitzicht prachtig. De kamer was zeer ruim."

Het is niet ver van een prachtig strand, alleen je moet net even een drukke weg over.

"Amazing location right on the beach, quiet surroundings yet not too far away from shops, restaurants and the city center. The house was spacious and clean with A.C., a fan and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge. Mr. Dagobert was very kind and welcoming, he also picked us up from the station. Thank you, it was a really nice stay!"

Keep in mind the accomodation is very basic and I think some renovations could be done, for instance our room didn’t have mosquito nets.

"We loved the courtyard where we had our breakfast which we put together from supplies from a nearby supermarket and the street fruit vendors. As shown on the wesite, the courtyard is a truly delightful spot, especially in a sunny morning, and important if you wish to eat or chat with your fellow travellers, as our rooms were too small for that. The staff were kind an helpful, and the daily room service and available linen service, ensured a clean room (and clean clothes). The location was close to where our conference was held and in a short walking distance the the lakeside, parliament house etc. Other city sights, the Plaza shopping mall, etc were usually an inexpensive taxi ride away."

The absence of wi-fi and difficulties getting an internet connection the courtyard and my room was a real inconvenience, only solved by purchasing a local sim and forgetting about my usual roaming arrangement for keeping in touch with family back home.
