Askja Hostel

"Wij verbleven in het hostel gebouw op een kamer met 4 bedden. Dit gebouw is onwijs leuk en knus ingericht met een erg mooie en fijne zithoek die warmte uitstraalt. Het was zo rustig, dus we hadden letterlijk de hele kamer en de woonkamer met 2 personen voor onszelf. De keuken is groot en voorzien van alle gemakken. Om bij het hostel/hotel te komen is wel een eindje offroad rijden. De omgeving is niet erg bijzonder, maar ze hebben er wel een onwijs leuk sfeertje gemaakt. Het is een klein dorpje op zichzelf, met en restaurant en zelfs een eigen kerkje. Er lopen tamme dieren los. Het rendier kwam gelijk knuffelen en het moeder varken had 3 kleine biggetjes bij zich. Dit was echt geweldig."

"Het ligt minimaal 30-45 min rijden off road vanaf de normale weg. Het restaurant is erg duur."

"Het lag relatief dichtbij de Askja vulkaan. Super aardig personeel. En gezellige gemeenschappelijke ruimte."

"Beautiful position, tidy rooms, well equipped kitchen, very nice restaurant nearby (same owners), easy hiking paths. Goats, pigs and a reindeer wandering around 😍"

"Incredible location!,in the middle of nowhere small village with homemade and bio products.We received an upgrade so in fact got 2 twin beds in a hut instaead of 4 people room in hostel.Definitely one of our highlights during the trip"

"This place is exactly in the middle of the tundra surrounded by very stunning landscapes and mountains. The atmosphere is absolutely magnificent. This actually is a whole camp with a restaurant and a café and a bar with all the infrastructure; and the hostel itself is very pleasant and nice and clean and cosy; I will definitely come back :)"

"Amazing location, intimate atmosphere. Magical surroundings. The staff has been great, we were even upgraded to a higher accommodation upon arrival, the restaurant serves great local specialties."

"Arriving at this hostel was an unforgettable journey through the highlands and its location is great. The kitchen and common areas are very large, well equipped and comfortable. Nice atmosphere."

"Although the location was a little off the route, it was a beautiful hostel experience for us. 4 friends in the same room. Clean and fully equipped kitchen + social area + clean toilets and bathrooms."

"The hostel is new, well furnished, and well kept. The bedroom is very small for four people, but we could luckily use it with the 3 of us (still little space to walk around). The kitchen is well furnished and functional. There is a sauna, which we did not use but is a great idea to have, especially at this location. In fact, be prepared to drive slowly on a relatively long gravel road to reach this place, which is in the middle of nowhere (I think of this as a nice experience, but some might see it differently)."
