Pensions in Congo

"Alles was geweldig: bed, bureau, koelkast, badkamer (hoewel klein, helemaal compleet), garderobekast en prima werkende wifi. Maar dat is alleen het praktische. Belangrijker is dat ik me er veilig voelde en dat de host ontzettend lief en attent was. Ik mocht (veel!) eerder inchecken en door kloppende foto's op de site was de kamer super snel gevonden. De kamer is gelegen op ongeveer een kwartiertje lopen van de oude stad, in een levendige wijk."

"De gastvrouw was zeer vriendelijk en gaf interessante tips voor restaurant en wandeling. De fiets mocht in de berging geplaatst worden. Het ontbijt was op de kamer maar alles was voorzien."

Eigenlijk niets, maar als we dan iets moeten noemen dan de slaapbank (kraakt wel behoorlijk). Het gewone bed is superfijn!

De chauffeur die ons van het vliegveld haalde had niet het goede bord met namen bij zich, dus veel verwarring. Fout van het hotel?

"The place is not a 5-star guest house, and I was pleasantly surprised by the way I was treated. The staff were lovely, the rooms were clean, and the facilities were better than some of the hotels I have stayed in across Africa. My bed was even a TV bed — I connected my MP3 player and listened to music through the bed speakers… great experience! The location is excellent, with the airport just a stone’s throw away. The staff even went out to buy takeaway food for me when I requested it, which I really appreciated. I do wish they had WiFi, but I understand they may be keeping their costs down. However, I was given a pre-loaded SIM card to make calls to my family, which was a thoughtful gesture."

No communal areas. The kitchen was tiny and no where sit and eat. There is a small space in the top floor to make a cup of tea but not suitable to eat and not near the kitchen. The shared bathroom shower is too complicated, the water sprays out of all the taps and was cold

"Ett trivsamt boende med perfekt läge på den vackra ön. Stugor med god standard och tillgång till fina kök. Hotellet erbjöd god mat och trevlig personal. Extra plus till hotellets personal som var serviceinriktade och hjälpsamma. Vi rekommenderar varmt boendet."

"Our group of 20 had an absolutely wonderful stay at Stellas in Ziemupe. The holiday home exceeded our expectations, with 10 spacious bedrooms that perfectly accommodated each couple. The jacuzzi was a fantastic addition, and having a private beach just 400 meters away was a dream! We spent a beautiful day and night enjoying the peaceful surroundings and watching a stunning sunset by the sea. The two kitchens, one large and one smaller, made meal preparations easy and seamless for our group. The host was incredibly responsive, ensuring our check-in was smooth and that we had everything we needed. The thoughtful amenities provided made our weekend stay feel effortless and relaxing. "De locatie was op zich goed, dichtbij een parkeergarage die zeker wel nodig was. Er was een redelijk ontbijt aanwezig. Het uitzicht was op de bergen met daarop nog de nodige sneeuw waar ook nog volop gebruik van werd gemaakt door de skiërs"

Het was in de ochtend druk met de auto's van het woon werk verkeer. Omdat er vooral bergen zijn, zijn er een beperkt aantal doorgaande wegen waar al het verkeer overheen moet met als gevolg filevorming

"We hadden last minute een gewone kamer geboekt, maar kregen een suite met een aparte zitkamer. Het hotel ligt aan het centrale plein van het stadje. We kregen vooraf ook een heel lange en sympathieke mail van de uitbaatster die je een goed beeld gaf van wat je wel en niet mocht verwachten."

Ik vond de bedden wat hard, en omdat we een kamer aan de voorkant hadden, hoorden we ook het geratel van de autobanden op de kasseien aan het centrale plein.

Intermittent electricity due to poor infrastructure in Mount Hagen. The room is outside off a veranda so when it rains and the wind blows you might also get wet when going inside to use the toilet. I would have preferred a firmer mattress and slightly larger room.
