Aparthotels op de Kaaimaneilanden

"We love the area, close to the ocean, the view is fantastic. We lived in Trou deau Douce 25 years ago at Valmarin. It was wonderful to be back and these apartments has so much potential, but unfortunately it’s not taking care of. The cleaning lady was very kind."

The apartments weren’t cleaned when we arrived. The underfloor apartment was full of black mold. The pool is not taking care of. No sunbeds. You could easily do a quick renovation, do some painting and take care of these apartments and it would be wonderful. Now we love this area and has lot of friends in Trou deau Douce so we wanted to stay there. We had no contact with the owners, they didn’t answer us, but the housekeeper/cleaning lady was nice and answered, she come and clean when we asked for it.

"It is quiet and cool. Not too far from town. Friendly and pleasant staff."

The height and flight of stairs.

"Ontbijt door de familie zelf gemaakt is lekker, gevarieerd en een goede hoeveelheid. Mooie uitzichten vanaf verschillende plekken."

De losse bedden zijn wat aan de harde kant.

"Het is schoon, de bedden liggen lekker, er liggen handdoeken klaar. De locatie is perfect, strand te lopen, station te lopen."

Als ik iets moet bedenken is de douche. De douchewand is klein en laag waardoor alles nat wordt.

"prima plek! Heerlijk om na 2 weken zeilen weer in normaal bed te slapen. Mooie lokatie, was wel ff zoeken om te vinden. Maar vriendelijke dame was ook na sluitingstijd bereikbaar."

Aan de buitenzijde is het gebouw hard toe aan een opknapbeurt. Verder is het glas bij de entree al tijden niet schoongemaakt, wat jammer is en geen beste indruk wekt, telkens als je binnenkomt. Het appartement aan de binnenzijde is verder prima, ruim en redelijk schoon. De gym is aan de kleine kant. De directe omgeving van het zwembad is ook hard toe aan een opknapbeurt. Dit ziet er niet uit. Het zwembad is verder klein, maar voldoet.

"De kamer is zoals beschreven. De foto's kloppen."

Je hoort alle geluiden van mensen op de gang. De kinderen van de kamer ernaast maken veelgeluiden.

"Zeer correct en warm onthaal van Ed. Ongelofelijk rustig gelegen en toch een centraal uitvalspunt naar het hele eiland. Tof resort(je) waar je je snel helemaal thuis voelt. Kleine, maar mooie en aangepaste tuin, met een klein zwembadje geïntegreerd. De eigen parkeerplaats voor de bewoners, maakt het helemaal af. Indien we terugkomen naar Curaçao, zullen we zeker daar proberen terug te keren."

1 kleine suggestie: ook een muggenraam (hor) in de badkamer zou super zijn.

"Je krijgt veel ruimte voor de prijs! Ook wordt je snel geholpen. We werden ontvangen door een jongeman die goed Engels kon! Het zwembad is goed schoon en de keuken wordt ook goed bijgehouden."

Het vervangen van de handdoeken moesten we zelf na vragen

I did not understand it when booking, but our room had shared Bathroom and toilet, but it was fine, as there were no other people on the floor except us. Unfortunately the windows in our room are not openable. Even with existing ventilation and side fan it felt abit stuffy in the room.

"The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with directions to/from the property and allowing me to stay in the bar area until I went to the bus station in the evening."

The room was basic (ie basic bathroom, wardrobe, tv, no desk) and was in the process of being cleaned when I arrived, but then this could be reflected in the 'budget' cost I paid for the accommodation.

"The rooms were spacious booked a family room had one double and one single. Was on ground floor first room as you enter building. The a/c was nice and cool it was on a fixed temp as no remote. TV was good with reception. Outside plenty of shops and restaurants. Dera and Gourmet and supermarket/bakery, fast food and other shops along the way. Rickshaws always available across the road. The big malls like ammana mall just a few minutes ride."

The only problem was that the toilet was the flat hole in ground the other rooms upstairs had the siting version but they were double rooms staff said we could change rooms and they will give us extra mattress but we liked the location of first room others had to go past reception.

"Slaapgedeelte met prima airconditioning, mooi en groot bad en douche gedeelte. Dagtochten, huurauto en rondvluchten zijn te boeken bij de accommodatie. Leo helpt je bij de keuze en houd je goed op de hoogte via whatsapp. Ontbijt wordt 's morgens bezorgt bij je accommodatie op een tijdstip dat het jou uitkomt. Verse koffie wordt tijdens het ontbijt gezet. In het appartement is 24/7 heet water te tappen."

Helaas ligt de accommodatie buiten het centrum van Koror, wel op loopafstand (20 minuten) maar via een drukke hoofdweg, waar maar weinig ruimte is voor wandelaars. In het donker is het geen ideale route. Het boeken van een huurauto tijdens je verblijf is zeker een must.

Booking via booking.com is helemaal mis gegaan. Ik heb deluxe kamer met ontbijt geboekt en kreeg door boeking zijn fout huisje buiten zonder ontbijt. Echt grove fout van booking.com maar gelukkig dat personeel van het hotel het recht hebben getrokken en alles opgelost.

Our room was located near the pool pump so was a bit noisy; we had to keep the balcony doors closed at all the time

"We had a family room with a kitchen (all utensils included), which I highly recommend. The beds also had comfortable mattresses, fast internet, and adequate hot water. Breakfast is included in the price, including an omelet, salad, bread, and tea/coffee. Supermarkets and restaurants are within walking distance."

The hotel is a bit tired and its age is evident. Our room also lacked a desk, forcing us to go down to reception to work on our laptop. After preparing a hot meal, we were forced to eat sitting on the bed, which was quite uncomfortable. But all these downsides are outweighed by the more significant advantages described above.

Wees voorbereid op stroomuitval en dat de ATM in Lejone niet altijd werkt.

"Nos gustó lo espacioso, nuevo y limpio que era el apartamento.Vistas desde dormitorio a la Pagoda Shwedagon. Estuvimos 4 noches cómo en casa, limpieza diaria además con gimnasio en el edificio y destacar la amabilidad de la chica de recepción, nos dejó salir más tarde al tener bus nocturno. Es una pena que no vayan los turistas !!!"

It was very quiet, because we were at the end of the season and there were almost no people there. Very nice terrace. But you need to have something against mosquitoes (we bought in supermarket candles with citrone, which cost nothing and work very well)."

I was reading negative reviews about showers, but when I got there for the first time, I had almost claustrophobia, but to be honest, I also had worse. The water is hot and with strong flowing, so it's not so bad. I don't understand why we got so a lot of keys, special that half of them you don't use. Also, the kitchen has a very basic thing, but it was no sponge for washing dishes, only one knife, no grinder for cheese, and no vine glasses. Ventilation in the kitchen doesn't work. In the room was cold, while outside was warm, which would be nice in summer, but we were in October. So i was always cold inside in the evening and night. But you can't keep everything open, otherwise you will have a lot of mosquitoes. Also, the bed for me was not so comfortable. When my husband was moving, I almost had seasickness. The hotel has they own "parking", but to get there you need to go through some dump, you should to be very careful there, and sign for this place very small so easy to miss it, when just arrived.
