Welcome to The Benjamin House, a historic building just a short 400 metre walk from Riga Old Town and right next to the peaceful Vērmane Garden. The building once belonged to the famous Latvian press queen Emilija Benjamina and her husband in the 1920s-1930s, and it still carries the atmosphere and elegance of that era, inspired by Florence Renaissance architecture. Today, the historic character of the house is thoughtfully blended with nieuwste generatie styles and contemporary art, creating a space where past and present meet. The Benjamin House is not only a hotelstructuur but also a cultural venue that hosts a variety of events, including concerts, theatre performances, conferences, weddings and many other gatherings. Historically, the house itself was always intended as a place for hosting events and bringing people together, and today we continue that tradition. Within the house you will also find The Benjamin House Bar, open from Wednesday to Saturday, where guests and locals can enjoy drinks in a relaxed historic setting. Our verblijf offers 60 rooms where classic interior elements mix with actueel comfort, including air conditioning and Smart TVs. Guests can also stay in the special suite where Emilija Benjamina herself once lived, offering a unique connection to the building’s past. The Benjamin House operates as a self check in logement with no on site reception. Guests receive their access instructions in advance and can check in independently at any time. Communication with our team is mainly done through messages or phone calls whenever assistance is needed. We look forward to welcoming you to a place where history, culture and nieuwste generatie comfort come together in the heart of Riga.

"Pand met de bourgeois-luxe van de 19e eeuw. Heel mooie ontbijtruimte, bar en salons. Via het park op loopafstand van de oude stad, treinstation achter de hoek."

"Het onderhoud van het gebouw bleef achter. Dat zag je aan het tapijt. Maar ook het loodgieterswerk dat duidelijk niet helemaal meer up-to-date was. Maar er ging soms zelfs een beetje nare lucht in de ruimte."
"Goede locatie, tram stopt voor de deur. Ongeveer 10 min lopen naar oude stad en ook zoiets naar het busstation. Wij hadden een kamer op de bovenste verdieping. Het was rustig en het hotel heeft ook een mooie tuin waar je kunt zitten."
"Je ziet geen personeel tijdens je verblijf, alles gaat via de whatsapp. Dat wisten we van te voren en is ook niet erg, alleen op één moment ging de gate niet open en konden we niet naar buiten. Ik probeerde te bellen naar iemand van het hotel maar niemand antwoordde. Dan is het ineens wel lastig."
"Schitterende, zeer ruime kamer in karakteristiek pand. Onze kamer had een hoog plafond, stijlvolle inrichting, gerieflijke bedden en een heerlijke badkamer. Ook indrukwekkend mooie zalen in de rest van het pand, je zou er zo een kostuumdrama kunnen filmen. Als bonus hadden we vanuit de kamer een prachtig uitzicht over het vers besneeuwde park. Een sprookje!"
"Het inchecken zonder personeel werkt prima, maar het voelde heel anoniem om niemand te spreken in het hotel. Dat maakte het verblijf er absoluut niet minder om, maar was wel een beetje anders dan anders. Erg jammer dat er geen parkeerplaatsen waren, parkeren rondom het hotel of verderop in de buurt is duur."

"De card keys zijn erg gevoelig en vaak defect. Dat is onhandig in een self-check-inconcept. Maar je kan via telefoon of whatsapp altijd een code voor een vervangsleutel ontvangen. Druk van warm water was soms onvoldoende (kamer op hoogste verdieping)."

"Excellent location. Very well equipped. Nice, large bathroom. And we were greeted with champagne! In addition, the host is very responsive and quick to get in touch. Great place for up to 3 people! There were four of us and we stayed there for over a week, most nights just two or three of us slept there. The couple nights though, when all four of us slept in the accommodation, became very cramped, but the host warned us about it, although a few nights are not a big problem. In any case, I would not recommend to take this apartment longer for a night or two, if you are 4 people, and all of you plan to actually sleep there, and good night sleep is what you are seeking for - otherwise - one of the finest choices to explore Valmiera to the fullest! :)"

"I loved everything about this place, location is perfect, if you're traveling by train or autobus 10-15 mins walk maximum. You don't have to worry about groceries, small mini-mart is 3 mins walk away with everything you may need, If you arrive late and the mini mart is closed,you can always grab something to eat at Circle-K gas station open 24hrs. If your stay is short and you want to explore Valmiera, you may have to come again, because once you enter the apartment, you won't want to go outside. It's so nice and cozy and equipped with everything. On my stay I didn't go outside once. I highly recommend this place."
