Thotalagala ligt in Haputale, op het landgoed Pitaratmalie. Het is een gerestaureerde voormalige plantenbungalow met zeven suites, elk vernoemd naar een prominente persoonlijkheid die de geschiedenis van de provincie Uva vormde. Thotalagala heeft een ontbijtzaal, een tuin, een bar en gratis WiFi in het hele accommodatie. "De service was ongelofelijk! Een mooie kamer, heerlijk gegeten, het personeel stond constant voor ons klaar. Niets was hen teveel. Aapjes op het dak maakte het decor adembenemend! Malshan heeft ons nog extra verwend. Een echte aanrader!"

"Our room (Duncan) was lovely, but very expensive even for the time of year (Christmas). It wasn't particularly big and unfortunately was located near the bar/dining area so quite noisy late at night and early morning. Also not much privacy if you wanted to open the curtains."
"It was such a treat staying at Thotalagala on an all inclusive basis for 2 nights during our 2 week trip around Sri Lanka. The bungalow is so calm, impeccably decorated and equipped with a great team. We had mixed weather (October) but still did a lot - sun rise viewpoint (Lipton Seat), a tea factory tour, walked through the tea plantations. And when at the bungalow we loved swimming in the pool, admiring the views, playing scrabble and sampling the amazing and daily changing food menu. Kanth took the greatest care of us and we also enjoyed our walks with Madhu. One of my favourite things was the hot water bottle that is placed in your bed while you're eating dinner - heaven."

"Wonderful hotel with exceptional service. Manjula was superb and looked after our every need, all the staff were friendly and delivered excellent service. The view from the hotel is exquisite, and there is a wonderful feeling of calm and peacefulness. The food and drink are of a very high standard with wonderful cocktails. The turn down service with the hot water bottles is a lovely touch. We were enchanted with the local birdlife and entertained by a small group of monkeys outside of our room. A wonderful stay at a very special hotel and we would highly recommend."

"De hutjes zijn super dichtbij yala np, waardoor er dus wel wat beestjes in je hut kunnen komen. Voor ons geen probleem. De eigenaar was supervriendelijk, hij doet alles om het naar je zin te maken!! En hij kookt zelf ook lekker sri lankaans eten! Aanrader!"

"Midden in de jungle werden we vriendelijk onthaald en verwend met een diner bij kaarslicht en kampvuur. Vroeg in de ochtend 5.00 uur stond de koffie klaar voordat we op safari gingen. Bij terugkomst een heerlijk ontbijt. En alles met een glimlach. Maak het mee, het is de moeite waard."
